What to Pack

This is a recommended packing list of things that you will need on this trip. We will also send a printable packing list and trip instructions in a welcome package. You will be able to bring one piece of luggage and a purse or small bag. We suggest that you use a large backpack or a duffel bag versus rolling luggage. We will be in the jungle for the beginning part of the trip and rolling luggage doesn't work quite as well. The lighter you can pack the better. Trust us, you'll be happy you did. You will be able to wash any dirty clothes at hotels after we leave the retreat. For the first 4 nights we will be at a jungle retreat, so we recommend that you bring the following:

  • Light-weight jacket
  • Rain poncho (cheap variety is fine)
  • Flip flops
  • Comfortable athletic shoes for hiking and walking
  • Rain boots
  • Long pair of socks for rain boots
  • Long sleeve shirt
  • Pair of hiking pants
  • Short sleeve shirts (breathable light-weight and quick dry)
  • Shorts (plus one pair you don't mind getting dirty)
  • Socks
  • Comfortable/breathable underwear (ExOficio makes great gear for travelers, but is on the pricey side)
  • Swimsuit
  • Brimmed hat (a baseball hat is fine, but some people prefer a full brim)
  • Prescription medications (if applicable)
  • Sunscreen
  • Toothbrush and toothpaste
  • Deodorant
  • Bar soap (easier than liquid)
  • Bath or shower sponge that dries easily
  • Beach towel
  • Flash light or head lamp
  • Extra batteries
  • Battery operated fan (you may want this for the jungle)
  • Portable power source for the jungle. Electricity is limited at the reatreat for the first part of the trip.
  • Mosquito repellent (repellent with deet is recommended)
  • Mosquito jacket or suit (you can find these in the camping section of Walmart)
